Interesting, because recently I've been missing my abusive mother. Now she's in a home with dementia, my role as a carer, however much I hated it, is ending. It so shaped my life that I'm missing it. Weird.

Ok. I finally got to the original post. In my case I likened it to when I quit smoking - which I have since begun again.
